About 20 years old
Leonard Francis Chaney who later became Lon Chaney, was born too deaf-mutes parents in Colorado Springs on April 1st 1883. He left home at age17 to tour as an actor, traveling across the country before landing in Hollywood in 1912 to begin his film career. His talent sprang from his amazing ability to act out the happenings of the day to his sick mother. He mastered the art of pantomiming and because of his theater background Lon Chaney became the most widely known and most popular character actor that there ever was. Threw out his life time Lon Chaney only made one talkie film, Unholy Three which was a remake of his 1925 version. Unholy Three came out in 1930, it was an overnight success. Tod Browning announced that Chaney would play the title role in his upcoming production of Dracula, Lon Chaney died from throat cancer just one month later, after being in over 150 movies.
