| Anubis; Anpu, Inpu, Ienpw, Imeut : Has a Jackal head and a human body. God of Embalming, and the over
seer of the dead. He was also known as the guardian and guide of the dead. He
was also said to as the weigh the heart of the dead aginst Maat's Fetaher
in the Hall of the Two Truths Priests often wore Anubis like mask in the Mummification
ceremonies."There is a story that says he was born as a result of Osiris
mistaking Nephthys for Isis. Nephthys was careful to conceal her pregnancy
from everybody and Anubis was secretly born in a field. Isis found out
about it and brought the baby back to her home. She allowed the child to
be suckled by a greyhound (or some form of dog) who just had a litter of
puppies. Anubis grew up with the instincts of the dog; thus Anubis was
depicted as a jackal, or as a jackal-headed man. Unlike a real jackal,
Anubis' head is black, representing his position as a god of the
dead...His principal sanctuary was at the Cynopolis in Memphis and in
other cities. Anubis was also known as Khenty- Imentiu - "chief of
the westerners" - a reference to the Egyptian belief that the realm
of the dead lay to the west in association with the setting sun, and to
their custom of building cemeteries on the west bank of the Nile. The

moon. Bast was one of the daughters of Ra. She was the Goddess of
Protection and was also given the title of "Avenger". She
was also the Goddess of cats,dance, sex, music,and good luck. There is a Temple built to her at Bubastis in the

| Bes; Bisu: Is a Dwarf with part lion and human futures sometimes wearing the skin
of a lion. Bes was the protector of pregnant woman and babies and
families. Bes was also believed to protect against Scorpion snake bites and misfortune.
"He bore swords and knives to ward off evil spirits, as well as
musical instruments which he used to create a din which would frighten
them off. Bes aided the hippopotamus goddess Taweret in childbirth. He was
originally the protective deity of the royal house of Egypt, but came to
be a popular household deity throughout Egypt. He was revered as a deity
of household pleasures such as music, good food, and relaxation. Also a

| Geb; Keb, Seb, Gebb: (great
Cackler) Has a Goose on his head is the man lying below the arch of the sky
Goddess Nut. Geb is the God of the earth and is married to Nut as well as her
brother. He is also the father to Osiris, Isis, Nepthys and Seth. Gebs Laughs
were believed to cause earthquakes. He was the provider of crops and was also a
healer. Geb would imprison the soles of the wicked so they would not go to
heaven." In an Egyptian legend, Geb married Nuit, the sky goddess,
without asking the powerful Sun god Re. Re was so angry at Nuit and Geb
that he forced their father Shu, the god of air, to separate them. Shu was
said to have separated Geb and Nuit from their passionate embrace by
violently pushing them apart so that Nut formed the sky and Geb the earth.
That is why the Earth is divided from the sky. Moreover, Re prevented Nuit
from having children. Fortunately, Thoth the divine scribe decided to help
her. Thus, he conned the Moon into playing a game of draughts, where the
prize was the Moon's light. Thoth won so much light that the Moon had to
add five new days to the official calendar. Thus Nut and Geb could finally
have children. Geb was said to grieve continuously for having been parted

| Hapy: Has a pot belly usually shown with water plant. Hapy was the Go who
looked after the Nile flooding yearly. (innundation) He was also considered to
help with the nourishing of the banks the Nile allowing the Egyptians the grow
crops. |

| Hathor: (house of horus) Is a woman with a sun disk headdress with horns on
it. The goddess of love, joy, dance, alcohol, protection, Mirth and foreign places and
materials. Hathor also nurtured the living, carried the dead to the
underworld, and looked after mothers and children.
Hathor was considered to be the mother of the Pharaoh and was the wife to Horus.
A temple was built to honor her at Dendera. her sacred animal is the cow and her
symbols are papyrus reeds, the snake, and the cistern. |

| Horus (One far above): Has the head of a hawk and the body of a man. Horus
was the God of the sky and the protector of Egypt. Egyptians believed that the
Pharaoh was the living embodiment of Horus. Do to loosing an eye in a battle
with Seth, Hours lost an eye. It was believed to heal and protect.
The symbol that we use now a days for medicine means the eye of Horus. There is
a Temple dedicated to Horus at at town in upper Egypt called Edfu |

| Isis; Aset, Iset, Auset: Wears a headdress with a pair of cow horns and the sun disk or a
throne. Isis uses magic to heal peopel in need. Isis is the wife of Osiris
and mother of Horus. She is the Goddess of women and children and the mother of
all living things. There is a temple dedicated to Isis at Philae. |

(Moulder, Divine Potter) Who had the head of a curly horned ram and body of a man. Khnum
invented the flooding of the Nile (innundation) and also created people on a
potter's wheel. The mud from the Nile connected with the creation of

harmony and justice and the balance with all earthly things. Maat was the
daughter of Ra. "The hearts of the deceased were weighed in the "Hall
of Truths" against her feather at the Judgment. The heart of a 'Truth
Speaker' would weigh the same as the feather of Maat, and he/she would

Mansion) She wares a Cartouche on her head with her
name. Nephthys protects the dead. Mother to Anubis and sister to Isis and Osiris

in funeral Hieroglyphs scenes. Her Symbols are the crow, bones, and skulls. |

The four sons of Horus who assist the deceased during their journey to the
underworld. They protect to canopic jars (jars where the viscera are kept after
mummification). Their heads are depicted on the lids of those jars. They are
Amset (Human-his canopic jar receives the stomach and large intestines of the
dead.) , Hapi (Baboon-his canopic jar receives the small intestines of the
dead.), Duamutef (Jackal-His canopic jar receives the lungs and heart of the
dead.), and Kebechsenef (falcon). They represent the four cardinal directions
and are also portrayed on the four corners of the sarcophagus
